Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a practice of burning a herb called mugwort on the skin of a patient. The mugwort herb is known for it’s power to increase blood circulation, the herb can be in a cone, stick or a cigar type structure.
The practitioner places the moxa on the body on acupuncture points along the meridians (energy channels) with intent of driving out and activating the acupuncture points leading to improve the flow of Qi and Blood.
It is particularly effective at treating cold (Yang) type conditions and Dampness in the body.
Due to the main feature of Moxibustion being fire (Yang) it is particularly effective at treating:
- Hypothyroidism
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- Spleen and Stomach Problems
- Aversion to cold
- Oedema
- Immune system issues
- Arthritis and Damp Joints
- Depression
